Registered Manager – Home with Strong Foundations
Location & Context:
Wem, Shropshire – a small residential children’s home within a specialist CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) provision.
A calm, contained setting designed to prioritise safety, stability and relationship-based care. The home is currently supporting one young person, allowing time and space to build the service properly.
4 bed home - 1 occupancy currently.
Salary:
£50,000 – £55,000 per annum, depending on experience
£5,000 annual quality and commercial bonus
Introduction:
This is an opportunity to lead a new children’s home with the backing of an established provider and a clear leadership structure around you. The role is purpose-led and focused on delivering safe, trauma-informed care, without placing responsibility solely on one individual.
This is a supported and sustainable Registered Manager position, with shared accountability, realistic expectations and access to guidance when required.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the home, supported by senior leaders and established organisational systems.
• Provide calm, consistent leadership for a small residential service
• Oversee care planning that reflects each young person’s emotional, educational and health needs
• Build and develop a stable staff team with support from central recruitment
• Allocate and support Key Workers to ensure consistent, relationship-based care
• Maintain standards in line with Ofsted requirements and the home’s Statement of Purpose
• Work collaboratively with families, placing authorities and partner agencies
• Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings
• Promote a safe, reflective culture for children and staff
• Manage concerns and complaints with senior support when needed

About You:
Experience & Qualifications:
• Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred or willingness to enrol within 6 months)
• At least 2 years’ experience in residential childcare, including supervisory responsibility
• Sound understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
• Full UK driving licence
