Lead a Well Supported Home with Strong Foundations
We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a Registered Manager to lead a settled 2-bed children's home in Plymouth supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Currently home to one young person in a long-term placement, this is a service built around stability rather than high occupancy. The young person has lived in the home for five years and is progressing through assessments relating to neurodiversity, providing an opportunity for a thoughtful and consistent leader who understands the interaction between trauma, ADHD and autism.
This role would suit either an experienced Registered Manager or a Deputy Manager ready to take the next step into leadership with the right support around them.
About the Role:
As Registered Manager, you'll provide clear, consistent leadership while being supported by an experienced team and wider clinical network.
You'll be responsible for:
• Leading a therapeutic, trauma-informed children's home.
• Supporting and developing an experienced staff team.
• Creating a calm, child-centred culture where young people can thrive.
• Providing leadership, coaching and supervision to develop staff confidence and autonomy.
• Overseeing care planning, safeguarding and quality assurance.
• Managing the home's operational performance and compliance with the support of senior leadership.
• Working closely with regional leaders, psychologists, therapists and specialist advisors to achieve positive outcomes for children.
What Makes This Opportunity Different:
This home already has many of the foundations successful managers look for.
• A settled home supporting one young person in a long-term placement.
• Good Ofsted rating maintained consistently for six years.
• Experienced Deputy Manager supported by two long-serving Senior Residential Support Workers.
• Established Residential Support Workers who know both the organisation and the young person well.
• Additional Residential Support Worker currently joining the team.
• Dedicated Regional Manager providing ongoing operational support.
• Regional clinical team working within a trauma-informed model.
• Your own allocated Psychologist and Therapist supporting both the home and leadership team.
This is an opportunity to focus on developing people, strengthening practice and maintaining a positive culture rather than rebuilding a service.
About You:
You'll bring experience within residential childcare together with a leadership style that is calm, consistent and child-focused.
Ideally you'll have:
• A minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory role within children's residential care.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), or be working towards it.
• Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.
• A good understanding of trauma-informed practice and neurodiversity.
• Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding and relevant legislation.
• Experience managing or contributing towards budgets and operational performance.
• A full UK driving licence.
We're particularly keen to speak with Deputy Managers who are ready to step into their first Registered Manager position and are looking for the right environment to succeed.
Why Join?
Alongside a supportive leadership structure, our client offers an excellent package including:
• Salary up to £43,000 depending on experience.
• £5,000 Welcome Bonus.
• Annual performance bonus of up to 21%.
• 32 days annual leave including Bank Holidays.
